Welcome Chris!

Chris is our new Web Developer for the Service team. In addition to many years of restaurant cooking experience, he holds an associates in Web Development from Clark College. As a double threat, he is able to troubleshoot any Service inbox task at hand, all the while caring for the concerned client with grace. Whether it’s meal prepping for the week, or listening to Stevie Wonder on repeat, Chris is a multifaceted addition to our Gravitate crew and we are so happy he’s here!

What is/was your favorite meal at Brickhouse?

Tap #13 used to be the European import tap. Now I just don’t know….

How long would you last in a zombie apocalypse?

Who’s to say? I might do alright. I’m already closer to being a Zen monk than even I realize. I’d go with the unfindable yet heavily booby-trapped hermitage strategy.

Who influenced you as a child, other than your parents?

When I was growing up I always got my uncle Paul’s hand-me-down books. He was a pretty far-out hippie-type dude. My parents were always happy to see me reading but they never asked what the books were about. Ha!

Name something super-overrated. Why?

Restaurants. I’ve worked in a bunch of ’em. Too expensive, the staff is often overwhelmed. Plus you’re supposed to stay in your seat and not be up spazzing out…. lame. Backyard BBQ, please.

Name something super-underrated. Why?

The library. Usually, there’s no limit to how many books you can check out. They don’t charge late fees anymore. If they don’t have the book you’re looking for they’ll buy it. Free internet access, job resources, tax help, video games. You can rent laptops and wifi hotspots at the library. If for some reason you can’t make it to the library they’ll bring the book-mobile to you. I could go on. Linkedin Learning is free through the library. All it takes is a piece of mail proving you live in the county to get a library card. I’ve even seen people sign up without any ID at all.

Tell us about your role – what are you most excited about?

Service team developer! My role looks like troubleshooting anything and everything.

It is it’s most exciting when I’m able to understand, and then fix, something I’ve never even heard of before.

What is your favorite part about your role at Gravitate?

The variety of experience I gain every day. I guess a job where I do 1 thing would probably be easier, but it’s more interesting to work on a bunch of different stuff.
